Editor’s Letter: Reporting for duty
By Gary Pullano

Welcome to the debut issue of National Nut Grower.

NNG presents the latest developments and growing techniques impacting almonds, pistachios, pecans, walnuts and hazelnuts. In a first-of-its-kind approach, NNG will monitor and present coverage on a quarterly basis of the commercial nut industry across all of the production regions in the United States.

Gary Pullano is editor of National Nut Grower.

Our focus will be on growers – their stories, challenges, achievements and breakthroughs.

Readers will find the latest information on a host of topics that are crucial in enhancing the bottom line.

The team behind the launch of this new print and digital brand are award-winning thought leaders and seasoned information providers.

Produced by Great American Media Services (GAMS), NNG joins a stable of respected journalistic products emerging from GAMS’ Specialty Agriculture Group. They include the over-60-year-old Fruit Growers News (FGN), 50+ years’ Vegetable Growers News (VGN), Organic Grower, Produce Processing and Spudman.

I was privileged to join GAMS in 2013 as associate editor of FGN and VGN, having recently advanced to the editor position for those publications, as well as NNG. My duty is to spearhead the presentation of accurate and pertinent information.

You will notice in this first issue of NNG that we have turned to our Specialty Ag Group Western Editor, Crystal Nay, to provide extensive in-depth coverage of a nut sector that continues to experience growth and success in many regions of the country.

Nay has been a regular freelance contributor to several publications covering specialty agriculture, including the nut and organic markets on the West Coast. Her industry experience and prime geographical California base are allowing our publications to expand our coverage of the western market. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of nut production and processing to this effort.

Primary to this endeavor is the desire for feedback from our audience. Please send an email to me (gpullano@greatamericanpublish.com) or Crystal (cnay@greatamericanpublish.com) to let us know what you think about this debut issue and to provide future coverage ideas.
