Future of American Agriculture series begins Sept. 30
CAST will launch a five-part public dialogue series Sept. 30 examining investment, innovation, resilience and trust in American agriculture.
The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) will launch The Future of American Agriculture, a five-part public leadership dialogue series, Sept. 30 to examine the investments, innovations, partnerships and capabilities shaping U.S. agriculture.

The free virtual sessions will address investment, research and innovation, resilience and security, and public trust before concluding with a roundtable focused on American agriculture through 2040. All sessions are scheduled from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET.
The opening session, Investment and Competitiveness: Aligning Capital with Agricultural Priorities, will be held Sept. 30 and feature Paola de Almeida of Natural Systems Capital. The discussion will examine how investment can support agricultural research, innovation, infrastructure, workforce development and other capabilities.
Subsequent sessions are scheduled for Oct. 7, Oct. 14 and Oct. 21. A concluding Strategic Advisory Council Roundtable, American Agriculture 2040: From Vision to Action, is planned for early November, with the date to be announced.
“CAST believes agriculture is strongest when science, expertise and collaboration help inform long-term thinking and action,” Chris Boomsma, CAST chief executive officer, said.
The discussions are intended to inform the work of CAST’s Strategic Advisory Council as it considers the organization’s future role in science-based expertise, strategic foresight and cross-sector dialogue.
CAST also will launch Horizon Perspectives: The Future of American Agriculture, a companion video series featuring reflections from Strategic Advisory Council members who are not participating directly in the webinars or roundtable.
All sessions are free and open to the public.
