Small Pecan Producers Workshop scheduled in Georgia

University of Georgia Extension is offering a workshop for small pecan producers.

The free event will be held online on Feb. 2 from 9 a.m.-noon.

Register here.

The objective of this program is to provide an introductory look at pecan tree management and marketing opportunities for small producers.

The first portion of this program will be a virtual seminar via Zoom held in the winter of 2020/2021. SBDC will lecture on marketing avenues and ideas for small producers who may not have enough trees for wholesale opportunities. The production lecture will focus on the basics of tree management including fertilization, irrigation and common disease issues.

The second portion of this program will be for producers interested in more advanced production information, that may not have enough trees to attend a true production meeting. This workshop will be held in the spring/summer of 2021 and go more in depth into pecan tree production and management.
