Oct 21, 2024Vive Crop Protection introduces HVCE, aims to accelerate development of crop protection products
Vive Crop Protection has introduced its Highest Velocity Commercialization Engine (HVCE), a new initiative aimed at accelerating the development of crop protection products.
The HVCE is designed to bring innovative agricultural inputs to market faster, helping growers, retailers, and industry partners respond more quickly to emerging challenges.
“Growers are facing complex challenges in today’s agricultural landscape, and they need solutions fast,” said Dave Rummel, vice president of sales and business development at Vive. “Our HVCE allows us to develop tailored products at a pace the industry has never seen.”
Traditional product development in the crop protection sector is often slow and expensive, with new active ingredients taking over 12 years and $300 million to reach the market. Regulatory hurdles, particularly in agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), add further delays. Vive’s HVCE addresses these issues by focusing on existing active ingredients and optimizing them through modular product development.
The company’s proprietary nanotechnology improves both synthetic and biological inputs, enhancing performance and efficiency. This approach reduces the time required to bring new products to market, a critical advantage as the agricultural sector faces increasing pressure from evolving pest and disease threats.
“We’re not only speeding up the development process but doing it in a way that’s efficient, effective, and sustainable,” said Doug Baumann, Vive’s chief technology officer. The company plans to launch more than 30 new products over the next seven years, with three slated for release in 2026.
Vive also plans to target underserved markets, such as specialized crops and farming practices that larger industry players often overlook. This strategy aims to meet the specific needs of growers while supporting sustainability and regulatory compliance efforts.
Vive’s HVCE initiative marks the company’s latest step in positioning itself as a leader in agricultural innovation.
