The Administrative Committee for Pistachio (ACP)’s March shipment report showed 756 million pounds of pistachios shipped in the 2025/2026 crop year to date, with export demand continuing to drive movement and inventories declining.

Year-to-date domestic shipments reached 146 million pounds, while export shipments totaled 610 million pounds, for a combined 756 million pounds. The report said shipments remain at a historically elevated pace, even though volumes are modestly behind the prior on-year.

The update also pointed to tightening supply conditions later in the marketing year. With five shipment months remaining until harvest and inventories continuing to decline, the market appears well supported in the second half of the crop year.

At the grower level in California, concerns are emerging about unseasonably early heat in March and its effect on pistachio bloom, particularly in the Golden Hills variety. In growers’ orchards, reported issues include minimal nuts per cluster, flower bud abscission and questions about pollen viability during bloom after record heat. A clearer assessment is expected after June, once nut fill is complete.

The source also said global supply could tighten further in 2026 because of an expected off year, bloom concerns in California, another down crop in Turkey and production issues in Iran.
