CropManage schedules hands-on workshop for tree crops

The growing season is underway in the west and farmers are facing many challenges: a severe drought, high fertilizer prices, and a tight labor market.  Improving water and nutrient management can save money and labor and help growers comply with water quality regulations.

This is an opportune time to learn how to use the CropManage decision support tool for improving irrigation and nutrient management in your farming operation. CropManage has two upcoming in-person workshops in May: one on the Central Coast that will emphasize vegetables and berries, and another in the Central Valley of California that will emphasize tree crops.

If you cannot attend in person, then please visit the online tutorials and documentation.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact CropManage through the feedback link.

CropManage is an online tool for assisting growers and farm managers with decisions on irrigation scheduling and managing nitrogen fertilizer on a field-by-field basis. First launched in 2011, CropManage automates steps required to calculate crop water needs from weather data and models of crop development. The software also estimates fertilizer N requirements through a combination of infield measurements and models of crop N uptake and soil and crop residue mineralization.
