Sep 24, 2024IFPA Policy Retreat Gathers Industry Leaders to Set 2025 Advocacy Priorities
The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) hosted a Policy Retreat this month, bringing together its U.S. Government Relations Council and Political Advisory Committee to shape advocacy priorities for 2025. The event, held at National Harbor, focused on key issues affecting the fresh produce industry.
“This retreat is crucial as we finalize the Farm Bill and approach the U.S. elections,” said Rebeckah Adcock, vice president of U.S. government relations for IFPA. “Lawmakers rely on hearing directly from our members, and this retreat helps us prepare for focused advocacy efforts.”
The retreat featured discussions on the IFPA’s Strategic Plan and industry trends that could impact policy decisions. Bret Erickson, U.S. Government Relations Council chair, and Tony Freytag, Political Advisory Committee chair, provided insights into how government actions affect the produce sector.
In breakout sessions, the Political Advisory Committee discussed grassroots initiatives and FreshPAC, while the U.S. Government Relations Council tackled industry policy priorities, including the Farm Bill and labor regulations.
“The retreat underscores the importance of advocacy in ensuring the future of our industry,” said Erickson.
