May 3, 2024Meridian Growers latest update notes increased demand for pistachios, almonds
Meridian Growers most recent market update reported a firm pistachio market with increased demand across origins, particularly evidenced by Iran’s nearly doubled year-to-date shipments compared to last year.
“Market remains firm from origin, but we have seen lower priced resales from China,” noted Meridian Growers in its recent report.
Similarly, almonds witness heightened demand, especially for Nonpareils, Independences and Carmel Types, with prices incrementing marginally. The Almond Board of California’s latest report reveals a slight reduction in the state’s almond-bearing acreage for 2024 compared to the previous year, predominantly in Kern and Fresno counties.
Meanwhile, the pecan market maintains stability. “Market still remains hand to mouth as is typical this time of year,” the report noted.
As the International Nut Conference approaches, the pistachio and almond markets showcase resilience amidst shifting dynamics. Representatives from Meridian Growers will be at the event. For more information, visit meridiangrowers.com.
