Michigan State University (MSU) Extension will host a series of seven online meetings from May to September to support commercial chestnut growers with in-season production updates and research insights.

The sessions, held every other Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. EDT, will begin May 21 and run through Sept. 3. Topics will include crop and pest updates, disease management, irrigation and nutrient management. Rob Sirrine and Erin Lizotte, both with MSU Extension, will provide regular updates, alongside contributions from university specialists and experienced growers.

Organizers said the meetings are designed as informal, interactive discussions where participants can share field observations and ask questions related to current orchard conditions. Additional MSU faculty are expected to join periodically to discuss ongoing research and emerging issues in chestnut production.

Registration is free but required.

The program is supported by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture through the Crop Protection and Pest Management Program.
