US export prospects

The adjustment to the ban on imports for almonds will reopen business opportunities for US exporters of almonds. Demand for tree nuts remains high in Algeria. In addition to the fact that Algeria is not a significant producer of tree nuts in general, nor of almonds in particular, Algerian consumers consume a lot of tree nuts especially almonds in pastries and other dishes.

The United States remains the leading exporter of tree nuts to Algeria. Algeria imports on average about 5000 MT of almonds each year, of which 85% originates from the US Almonds average share of the total US tree nuts exports to Algeria accounts for 72% and represents a commercial success for US companies in the Algerian market accounting nearly for $20 million in US agricultural exports annually.
