USDA NASS launches June agricultural survey ahead of key crop reports
USDA NASS is conducting its annual June Agricultural Survey to collect crop acreage and grain stock data from more than 90,000 producers nationwide. The information supports major USDA crop and livestock reports released throughout the year.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will survey more than 90,000 agricultural producers in the coming weeks to collect data on crop acreage and grain stock levels as of June 1, 2026.
The annual June Agricultural Survey gathers information on planted and harvested acreage, biotech crop acreage and grain stocks. Producers may respond online, by phone or by mail.

Joseph L. Parsons, NASS administrator, said the survey helps maintain accurate agricultural reporting used by producers, researchers, private industry and policymakers.
NASS will use the survey data in several USDA reports, including the annual Acreage report and quarterly Grain Stocks report scheduled for release June 30, 2026. The information also contributes to monthly and annual Crop Production reports, the Small Grains Summary, Farms and Land in Farms and Land Values reports, livestock reports and the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report.
Parsons said producer participation supports reliable agricultural data and helps reduce market speculation.
NASS also announced a live StatChat discussion on the reports featuring Agricultural Statistics Board Chair Lance Honig at 1:30 p.m. EDT on June 30.
