A new nut processing group collaborate to offer solutions for Northern California tree nut industry

Key Technology, WECO, PPM Technologies and Multiscan have joined forces to launch the Northern California Nut Processing Group, offering specialized equipment and expert support for the region’s nut processors.

As part of Duravant’s Food Sorting and Handling Solutions division, this new group delivers sorting, conveying and processing systems designed to improve efficiency and product quality for walnuts, almonds, pistachios and dried fruits.

The Northern California Nut Processing Group combines the strengths of the four companies, offering a full range of equipment from WECO’s in-shell sorters to Key Technology’s shelled nut sorting and packaging systems.

PPM Technologies adds seasoning and thermal processing solutions, while Multiscan provides advanced optical sorters. Together, these technologies aim to enhance operating efficiency, ensure product consistency and boost yields.

“The nut industry in Northern California is made up of many small, family-run businesses that supply over half the world’s nuts,” said Jack Lee, president of Duravant’s Food Sorting and Handling Solutions. “This group leverages WECO’s strong market presence to offer more comprehensive solutions and build long-term partnerships with growers and processors.”

The group’s local presence includes a team of sales professionals and service technicians who offer fast, personalized support to meet the specific needs of the region’s nut processors. Its Customer Experience Center in Sacramento provides equipment demonstrations, employee training and application testing, allowing processors to experience the full range of solutions firsthand. The group also operates a nearby parts support center in Woodland, California, to ensure quick access to replacement parts and minimize downtime.
