CPRB announces Board of Directors for new 3-year term

The California Pistachio Research Board (CPRB) has seated its Board of Directors for the June 2026 to May 2029 term, appointing grower and public representatives to help guide research priorities for California’s pistachio industry. 

The board includes nine growers, four alternate growers, one public member and one alternate public member. Directors will oversee research investments and help set the strategic direction of programs focused on production efficiency, food safety, environmental stewardship and other challenges facing pistachio growers. 

CPRB-funded research covers areas including pest and disease management, irrigation efficiency, mechanization, production practices and plant nutrition. The organization serves as the research arm of California’s pistachio industry, supporting scientific studies and field projects intended to provide practical solutions for growers. 

“Research is essential to maintaining the success and global leadership of California’s pistachio industry,” Tom Coleman, CPRB chair and president of Coleman Farming, said. “The CPRB Board of Directors helps ensure that grower investments are focused on meaningful research that delivers real-world solutions to the industry.” 

California produces nearly all U.S. pistachios, with orchards located throughout the Central Valley. According to CPRB, more than 99% of pistachios are grown in California and exported to more than 85 countries. The organization was established through a grower referendum in 2007 and operates under oversight of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).
