Free On-Farm Readiness Reviews help growers prep for FSMA inspections
Growers can prepare for FSMA inspections with free On-Farm Readiness Reviews from CDFA. Get more details on the opportunity now.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Produce Safety Program (PSP) is offering free On-Farm Readiness Reviews (OFRRs) to help growers prepare for their first inspections under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule.
To request an OFRR, growers should complete the PSA grower training course and contact CDFA PSP at producesafety@cdfa.ca.gov or (916) 654-0466, providing farm details and PSA completion confirmation.
OFRRs are voluntary, non-regulatory assessments conducted by CDFA PSP staff. Reviewers walk your farm with you, discuss how the rule applies to your operation and provide guidance on food safety practices. Participants also receive a produce safety manual, regulatory pocket handbook and record-keeping templates.
Growers of all sizes — especially small and very small operations — benefit from this opportunity to become familiar with inspection expectations before a regulatory visit.
