Market Update highlights the start of pistachio bloom

The Meridian Growers Market Update released on April 4, 2024 detailed performance of pistachio, almond and pecan crops.

Almonds

• Meridian expects almond pricing to remain down until crop estimate reports are released.

Pecans

• There is no change in pecans from last week, according to the udpate.

Pistachios

• Pistachio bloom has started and Meridian noted that this is the “off crop” year and is at the “start of the annual guessing game” in terms of crop size.
• Meridian Growers remains optimistic about the market remaining firm and anticipates inventory to increase into the 2024 crop.

Additionally, Meridian announced it has expanded its staff and promoted key team members as it increases “to 50 million pounds and add roasting and pasteurizing capabilities to our Madera, California facility for the 2024 season,” as noted in the update from Meridian.
