Record 2025-26 pistachio crop sets new high, early shipments up 9%

The U.S. pistachio industry has set a new production record for the 2025/26 crop year, according to the October shipment report released by the Administrative Committee for Pistachios (ACP). Total crop receipts reached 1.571 billion pounds as of Oct. 31, marking the largest harvest on record even as the crop came in below many pre-season expectations.

Marketable inventory totaled 1.34 billion pounds, a 4% increase from October 2023/24 — the most recent on-year and the closest comparable supply environment, according to ACP data. Adjusted inventory accounts for 12% inshell shrinkage, shelling adjustments and other handler-reported factors.

Year-to-date domestic shipments reached 44.20 million pounds, while exports totaled 152.98 million pounds for combined movement of 197.18 million pounds through October. Total shipments are running 9% ahead of the same period last season.

In an industry update shared with growers, Meridian Growers highlighted the strong early pace of movement and noted that buyers “quickly adjusted” following early-season price shifts. The company pointed to steady inquiries for both kernels and inshell product and said the crop is well positioned in global markets due in part to shorter harvests in Iran and Turkey.

ACP export figures show broad gains across key regions. Vietnam received 39.98 million pounds year-to-date, compared with 11.14 million pounds at this point last season. Italy rose to 8.09 million pounds from 2.96 million pounds. Shipments to the Middle East and Africa reached 18.62 million pounds, up from 13.77 million pounds in 2024/25. The United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Saudi Arabia all posted increases.

Domestic movement also edged ahead of last year, climbing to 44.20 million pounds from 42.44 million pounds.

With record production, improving early-season demand and expanded access in several export markets, the 2025/26 pistachio season is positioned for continued momentum, according to ACP reporting and the grower update from Meridian Growers.
