Texas AgriLife Extension offers pecan management class in April
The morning event requires an RSVP and is designed to assist producers and homeowners with management options.
The program will run from 9-11:45 a.m., with onsite registration beginning at 8 a.m. The cost is $10. An RSVP is required to the AgriLife Extension office in Guadalupe County at 830-379-1972 as seating is limited to 65 attendees.
There are two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, one general and one integrated pest management, available for private, commercial and non-commercial applicators.
“This annual program will provide producers and homeowners with management options to assist them with their orchards and yard trees,” said Travis Franke, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Guadalupe County.
He said new technologies in disease and insect control options will also be discussed.

- Pecan Orchard Management – Larry Stein, associate department head and AgriLife Extension leader for the Department of Horticultural Sciences, Uvalde.
- Pecan Integrated Pest Management – Stein.
- Pecan Disease Management – Kimberly Cochran, AgriLife Extension plant pathologist, Uvalde.
