Tree nut prices show mixed trends

Tree nut markets experienced varied price movements in the week ending Aug. 23, according to Stratamarkets market update that included information on almonds, walnuts, pecans and other nut crops.

Almonds

In the almond sector, the Stratamarkets Almond Index saw a slight increase of $0.01 per pound. Prices for Nonpareil Inshell almonds rose by $0.02, and Independence Inshell almonds increased by $0.03. Notably, Nonpareil Extra 25/27 and 23/25 saw gains of $0.07 and $0.06 per pound, respectively. Conversely, Nonpareil Extra 27/30 and Butte Padre SSR 36/40 dropped by $0.04 and $0.02 per pound, while Carmel Type Supreme 27/30 and Independence Extra 23/25 saw increases of $0.03 and $0.10, respectively.

Pecans

Pecan prices in Texas showed a decline, with Fancy Large Pieces decreasing by $0.18 per pound and both Fancy Jr Mammoth Halves and Fancy Medium Pieces falling by $0.08 per pound.

Walnuts

Walnut prices, however, faced a downward trend. The Stratamarkets U.S. Walnut Index decreased by $0.04 per pound. Chandler L HP grades fell significantly, with the 60 count dropping by $0.21 and the 80 count by $0.10. In Chile, walnut prices also dropped, with Chandler 30-34 falling by $0.16 per kilogram and ELL HP 40 down by $0.28.
