UCCE offers seminar, tour for fruit and nut growers

The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) will host the August North Sac Valley “Third Thursday Things from the Field!” a fruit and nut growers seminar.

This educational forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 18, 2024, at the Tehama County Farm Bureau Hall.

Attendees will receive updates on management strategies and information on what challenges are being seen in the fields.

Participants will also tour the recently planted walnut variety trial at the Chico State Farm, where Pat J. Brown, a walnut breeder with the UC Davis Walnut Improvement Program, will present on the development of new walnut cultivars. After the presentations, attendees will have an opportunity ask questions and discuss concerns regarding all tree crops.

UCCE asks attendees to bring questions, pictures, observations in order to participate in an open forum discussion.

Registration is online and is now open. Lunch is sponsored by the California Walnut Board and Commission.
