UMHDI conducting insect pest survey

As anyone that has harvested hazelnuts by hand knows, hazelnut bushes are full of bugs. Most of them cause no harm or limited cosmetic injury to the plants. But some, like Japanese beetle and nut weevils, can cause considerable damage.

Hailey Shanovich at the University of Minnesota is working to better understand these pests. Some of her early work on weevils and big bud mite is available for viewing at our conference proceedings page. To better understand the scale and intensity of insect pests, Hailey needs your help.  Please complete this short survey about insects in your hazelnut planting at: INSECT SURVEY
