Sep 5, 2024Meridian Growers reports erratic pistachio harvest, rising almond prices
Meridian Growers released its latest almond and pistachio crop update, which stated pistachio harvest has had a “slow and unpredictable” start this season.
Pistachio orchard maturity is highly variable, with early shipments before mid-October looking unlikely, the company shared.
“So far, the quality looks excellent, but it is too early to start talking about production. With this strange start, early shipments prior to mid-October may be difficult at best,” the company wrote in its report.
In the almond market, kernel prices continue to rise.
“Inshell prices have also increased, but there is hesitation to buy at these higher levels. For now, kernel prices are selling at a premium to inshell prices, though we will see how much longer that lasts,” Meridian Growers wrote in the report.
