May 19, 2025Oregon growers launch campaign to promote organic hazelnuts
Oregon’s organic hazelnut growers are launching a new campaign aimed at boosting consumer awareness and promoting sustainable farming practices.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Oregon Organic Hazelnut Collective, will officially debut during the group’s Summer Tour on May 30. Central to the campaign is a new website, OrganicHazelnuts.org, which provides information on organic hazelnut farming techniques, including natural pest control and soil health strategies that avoid the use of toxic chemicals.
The campaign also highlights the health benefits of hazelnuts and aims to appeal to both health-conscious consumers and culinary professionals.
As part of its outreach, the collective is partnering with the Maitres Cuisiniers de France—USA, a prestigious association of French master chefs. The chefs, who work across fine dining, resorts and hospitality venues in North America, will incorporate Oregon’s organic hazelnuts into food development projects.
“Oregon’s organic hazelnut growers are deeply committed to sustainable farming and food transparency,” Lori Stole, chair of Oregon Organic Hazelnut Collective advisory committee, said in a release. “We believe that informed consumers will seek out food that supports both their health and the environment.”
The campaign will also feature stories and recipes from chefs and businesses using organic hazelnuts in creative ways. That content will be shared through the website, social media and press outreach.
The effort is funded by a grant from the USDA Organic Market Development Program and supports the collective’s broader mission to expand appreciation and understanding of Oregon’s organic hazelnut industry.
The Oregon Organic Hazelnut Collective provides education, resources and community support for the state’s hazelnut growers.
