USDA opens 2023 NIFA Hall of Fame nominations

USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is now accepting nominations for the NIFA Hall of Fame.

Individuals that have been inducted into the NIFA Hall of Fame are recognized for efforts that exemplify NIFA’s “synergy of excellence in any combination of research, education, and Extension approaches on local, regional, national or international levels,” according to the USDA.

In a recent letter, Dr. Dionee Toombs, acting director for the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, noted that nominations can be individuals or teams that have performed “distinguished service.”

“We ask that Deans, Directors, and Administrators thoroughly review each submission for validity of accomplishments before signing their approval on the nomination form,” Toombs stated in the letter. “We have many excellent examples of success in these categories across our partnership, and NIFA looks forward to recognizing great accomplishments.”

Nominees are evaluated on:

  • Measurable impact on NIFA
  • Synergy of research, education and/or Extension
  • Endorsements or letters of support

To submit an individual for consideration, complete the NIFA Hall of Fame Nomination Form. For more information, visit the NIFA Hall of Fame Awards website. The deadline for emailing nominations is May 14, 2023.

All 2023 Hall of Fame inductees will be celebrated at the annual IFA Day of Appreciation this summer.
