Aug 9, 2024ZAG Technical Services warns ag businesses of rising email phishing schemes
ZAG Technical Services has issued a warning to agriculture businesses about an uptick in sophisticated phishing schemes targeting email systems. These attacks use compromised email accounts to send fraudulent messages that appear to come from trusted sources, including recognizable services like Dropbox, which add a layer of legitimacy to the scam.
“Phishing attacks are increasingly sophisticated, aiming to exploit vulnerabilities within the interconnected agriculture industry,” said Allen Santana, cybersecurity operations manager at ZAG. “Attackers seek to gain access to sensitive information and financial systems.”
To avoid falling victim, businesses should scrutinize any unexpected requests for urgent action or unfamiliar links. If an email seems suspicious, verify the sender through a known contact number and involve IT professionals to trace the threat.
