American Pecan Council seeks nominations for 2026 board seats

The American Pecan Council (APC) is now accepting nominations for Council seats with terms beginning October 2026. The APC represents U.S. pecan growers and shellers and oversees programs related to research, promotion and market development for the industry.

American Pecan Council logo.Open positions for the upcoming term include both grower and sheller seats across the Western, Central and Eastern regions. Eligible participants are encouraged to consider serving to help guide APC priorities and initiatives that support U.S. pecan production and marketing.

Grower seats

  • Western Grower Seat 2 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; acreage equal to or exceeding 176 pecan acres)
  • Central Grower Seat 2 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; acreage equal to or exceeding 176 pecan acres)
  • Eastern Grower Seat 2 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; acreage equal to or exceeding 176 pecan acres)
  • Eastern Grower Seat 3 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; acreage equal to or exceeding 176 pecan acres)

Sheller seats

  • Western Sheller Seat 2 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; must handle ≤ 12.5M pounds in-shell pecans prior fiscal year)
  • Central Sheller Seat 2 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; must handle ≤ 12.5M pounds in-shell pecans prior fiscal year)
  • Eastern Sheller Seat 2 – Member & Alternate (Term ends 2030; must handle ≤ 12.5M pounds in-shell pecans prior fiscal year)

Vacant seats

APC is also seeking nominations to fill current vacancies on the Council. In accordance with Council policy, vacancies are filled by a majority vote to complete the unexpired term. While formal nominations must be submitted by voting Council members, industry members are encouraged to submit the names of qualified individuals for consideration. These submissions will be reviewed during an upcoming Council meeting.

Sheller Seats

  • Western Sheller Seat 1 – Alternate (Term ends 2028; must handle more than 12.5M pounds of in-shell pecans in the fiscal year preceding nomination)

Regional breakdown for APC seats

  • Eastern region: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina
  • Central region: Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas
  • Western region: Arizona, California, New Mexico

Nomination forms must be completed and submitted by March 31, 2026, using the official forms available on the APC website. Council members play a critical role in shaping programs that support U.S. pecan production, marketing and overall industry growth. Serving on the Council provides a direct voice in decisions that affect research funding, promotion campaigns, and domestic and international marketing strategies.

Eligible pecan growers and shellers are encouraged to submit nominations and ensure diverse perspectives are represented in the APC.
