Jul 11, 2024Meridian Growers reports on almonds, pecans, pistachio market trends
On July 10, Meridian Growers issued an industry update, focusing on pistachios, almonds and pecans.
In this update, Meridian Growers noted that pistachio prices remain stable, and also shared that growers have begun early cutting in orchards to check embryo viability. The heat waves have slowed tree growth according to the report.
In terms of almonds, The USDA’s objective estimate is 2.8 billion meat pounds, down from the subjective forecast of 3 billion. This lower-than-expected estimate is generating interest in market reactions.
Meridian Growers shared that the pecan market is stable to firm, but securing good quality halves is challenging. Expected storms on the East Coast are likely to negatively impact the 2024 crop.
