Jun 4, 2025Virtual workshop to offer growers strategies for on-farm recharge
Sustainable Conservation will host a virtual “Train-the-Trainer” workshop on June 11 to help growers determine if on-farm recharge (OFR) is right for their operations and how to implement it effectively.
The free online event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. PDT via Zoom and aims to equip attendees with actionable steps for evaluating and maximizing groundwater recharge potential while protecting water quality.
Topics will include assessing recharge feasibility based on factors such as surface water availability, water rights, and conveyance infrastructure. Presenters will also cover the importance of monitoring OFR data, managing potential impacts to groundwater quality and understanding available incentives across various sub-basins.
The event will feature insights from two farmers who participated in OFR pilot projects. During a live Q&A session, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about real-world implementation, including challenges, outcomes and tips for success.
Presenters from Sustainable Conservation include:
- Rogel Rogers, agronomist
- Sarah Reuter, hydrologist
- Joe Choperena, project director
Continuing education units for Certified Crop Advisers have been applied for. The workshop was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service.
Attendees must register online ahead of the workshop.
