Dec 15, 2025UC Davis launches survey on cover crops in California pistachio orchards
Researchers at the University of California Davis are conducting a survey to understand current perspectives and decision-making related to cover cropping in California pistachio orchards.
The survey is voluntary and takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes to complete. UC Davis is inviting pistachio growers, farm managers, consultants and certified crop advisers to participate.
Researchers are exploring the potential benefits of cover crops in pistachio orchards, including improving soil health, addressing soil salinity, increasing water infiltration, and maintaining crop yields and quality.
The California Pistachio Research Board has partnered with UC Davis’ Department of Land, Air & Water Resources to gather insights from those directly involved in pistachio production. Results from the survey will support future research and outreach efforts in the pistachio industry.
Participants can complete the California pistachio cover crop survey online. The survey is anonymous, and no personal data will be collected.
