Sep 10, 2024USDA set to release 2024 pecan forecast
Pecan growers across the U.S. will receive a survey from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) during the week of Sept. 23 to help forecast 2024 production.
Around 2,600 producers, including more than 350 from Georgia, will be contacted to provide information on pecan acreage and production. The data will be used to estimate pecan production at both the state and national levels.
“The pecan industry is an important part of U.S. agriculture, especially in Georgia, and it is crucial for us to have accurate data,” said Anthony Prillaman, director of the NASS Southern Regional Field Office.
Growers can respond online through the Respondent Portal at agcounts.usda.gov. Those who do not respond by Sept. 29 will be contacted for a telephone or in-person interview.
NASS ensures the confidentiality of all respondents and publishes only aggregate data.
Survey results will be published in the Crop Production report on Oct. 11 and will be available online at nass.usda.gov.
