Growers and industry professionals can deepen their understanding of tree biology and orchard management with UC Davis’ 2026 Principles of Fruit & Nut Tree Growth, Cropping and Management course.
The course will be held March 9–13, 2026, at UC Davis Foundation Plant Services in Davis, California. Lectures will be held at Foundation Plant Services, with field demonstrations in the UC Davis Teaching Orchards.
The five-day intensive course combines classroom lectures, lab exercises and field demonstrations on a variety of topics, including:
- Tree growth and development
- Dormancy and chilling
- Flowering and fruit set
- Water relations and irrigation
- Plant nutrition
- Rootstocks
- Pest and pathogen interactions
- Harvest management
Sessions run daily from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is $1,695, with a requested deadline of February 23, 2026. An optional four-day field tour March 16–19 will showcase fruit and nut breeding, growing, and processing facilities in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.
